Year 1
Maths Focus Week - Doubles - The year 1 children can identify doubles and describe it as a mirror. We played a game mirroring the number our friend showed and developed this into learning what double a number is. We then played a game based on tick tack toe to find doubles and block our partners from winning.
Colour Mixing - We mixed colours in Reception so we knew what primary colours to choose to make a secondary colour. But this time, we learnt that when we add white we tint the original colour. We even then added a little bit of black to experiment with shading. We could use the correct terms in our art lesson to explain what we were doing showing we were artists.
More than and less than - Using number cards the year 1 children identified more than and less than and practiced writing the correct symbol to represent the number sentence.
Small Group Work - Sometimes we learn so much in year 1 that we might need our learning to be explained again. As we develop our independence; the adults have ensured we all learn by providing small groups to secure understanding if we need it. Sometimes the adults challenge us and we find this exciting. This builds our confidence and we know we can do it.
Crazy Hair Day - during Citizenship Weeks, to raise money for charity, we had a crazy hair day!
Year 2
Design Technology - Taste Test - We are designing our own healthy sandwiches but it is also important that they taste good! We conducted our own research by trying out ingredients we could add to our sandwiches. We then designed them using an exploded diagram.
