EYFS

Pre-school

During Character and setting weeks the pre-school had the book ‘Banana’ so lots of the activities in preschool centered around bananas from making banana milkshakes, banana bread and banana splits. As part of these activities the children developed their cutting and mashing skills. We also used bananas and the creative table when painting.

We have been learning about cars and the morning class was really lucky to go and visit a real Car garage. We had a garage set up as our role play area too.

As part of our fireworks theme we had real sparklers before making chocolate finger sparklers. We have also used a range of sponges to paint fireworks too.

Since the weather has got colder we have moved from an autumn to a winter theme. We have been exploring ice so the children have defrosted frozen cars and looked at the effect of adding salt when melting coloured ice blocks.

Other photos include developing our fine motor skills with Pom Pom sorting and tracing, using scissors and chalking on the floor.

Nursery

In Nursery, we have enjoyed reading the story ‘Owl babies’. We painted the baby owls using different materials!

We looked for twigs to make branches for owls to sit on and added feathers to make them fluffy !

We made owl toast using jam and fruits and looked for worms for the owls to eat.

We also had a Christmas themed stay and play session. Our parents came to join us in class to celebrate the coming of baby Jesus. We had lots of party food, face painting and games !

Reception

On one of the few days we had a break from all this rain, we headed outside and challenged ourselves and our friends to climb to new heights, do tricks, try things we’d never done before but most of all, have fun with our friends.

Everyday we do our Phonics sessions which include words to read, sound out and write.  We are so excited that now we are starting to make words ourselves, sometimes they don’t make sense but we keep practicing, using our ‘Robot Arms’ to double check.

In maths we have been using a variety of ways to count and know our numbers, as well as sorting and beginning to know our bonds.

In our gymnastics lessons we have developed our balancing and coordination skills. In dance we have used these skills when performing dance moves.
