For Maths Money Week, we had to create our own budgets for a weekly/ monthly shop. We went to the local shop to compare prices and to see what was the best value for money. We also had a shopping budget task to spend the least amount of money by comparing different online supermarket prices. 

Year 5 took part in a Romeo and Juliet workshop as part of our Shakespeare focus week. Each child played a different character and deepened their understanding of the play. It was a fantastic workshop to be a part of. 

TT Rockstars was such a fun filled mathematics day filled with lots of times tables battles. 5B were very happy to win another battle against 5Y. 5Y were amazing too! 

Year 6 recently had their Reconciliation services in school with Fr Tony. To help them prepare for their reconciliation service, Harry from the parish came into school to talk to the children about why reconciliation is important and why we do it. The children really enjoyed Harry’s analogies and spending time with Fr Tony and God. 

As part of their Galilee to Jerusalem religion topic, Year 6 took time to create some religious art centred around the bible verse “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live” (John 11:25). The children listened to reflective music and used watercolours to create beautiful art pieces that will be displayed in our classrooms. 

As part of our Shakespeare focus weeks, Year 6 attended a workshop on A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The children had the opportunity to take on the roles of the play and retell the story with the support of the Shakespearean actors who ran the workshop. This is a great way for the children to learn the storyline of the play and remember the many characters within the play. We will continue to learn about this play before writing our own Shakespearean style stories.  

To end our maths focus weeks on budgeting, children dressed up as rockstars to celebrate number day. They took part in times tables battles throughout the day and various other maths activities. They also enjoyed having a rockout at the end of the day!
