Reception
Reception have been very busy this half term with lots of new learning.
We went for a walk in the park with our friends from 5B. Some of our mummies and daddies even joined us on our healthy trek in Hermit Road park. We always love it when our loved ones can join us on learning experiences.
It's always fun to be outdoors as we continue to explore our woodland area during our forest school lessons. Miss Morgans has always got some fun activities for us as we learn about nature in our outdoor classroom.
Music with Miss Taylor has been very exciting as we have been creating our own short tunes using our claps and some instruments.
This half term we went to the Convent Chapel for our first class mass with our friends from 5B. It was a lovely mass to share with our peers as we heard them read and say their beautiful bidding prayers.
It's always good to stay active and exercise is very important in our everyday life. We have been working hard in our Dance lessons with Mr Downer to learn new routines and even learnt how to kick step and pose in our fun lessons. Miss Cascayan has also set up lots of different physical development activities in our gymnastic lessons where we can move our bodies to jump, climb and balance helping our gross motor skills and coordination.
We took part in a special circle time for Time to Talk day. We sat together and we were able to share what we did that day and how we felt. It was nice to talk about our feelings with our friends.
We dressed up so cool for Robot and Rock Stars day. We looked awesome and had so much fun rocking out with all of our friends.
Our Maths Money focus week helped us to understand what money is, the value of some coins and what it is used for. We were able to explore and sort various types of coins and how we can “save” money in different style piggy banks. We even went to the shops to use some money to buy snacks for our class to share.
We even had a special picnic in class with our own packed lunches and showed Miss Cascayan the variety of different foods we eat and the snacks that we like that are healthy and good for our bodies.
We went on two adventures this half term, one to the Laundrette linked to our Literacy text - Knuffle Bunny: A classic children's picture book written and illustrated by Mo Willems.
We learnt about the celebrations of Chinese New Year. We learnt about the Chinese culture and traditions of the season and how it is the Year or the Dragon and the story of how it came to be. We made special Chinese lanterns, practised how to use chopsticks and even chopped up carrots, green beans, broccoli and some spring onions to add in our noodles for a special Chinese banquet. We shared some spring rolls and even ate our noodles with chopsticks. It was delicious!
