Year 6 National Gallery Workshop
Year 6 enjoy a visit to the National Gallery where they take part in a workshop titled 'Places and Spaces'. During the workshop, children learn how artists create a sense of time, place and season in their artwork. They explore how colour, composition and perspective can be used to bring places to life and create a strong sense of space. This workshop allows children to build on their knowledge and skills from their art unit 'A Sense of Place'.

Year 1 visit the National Portrait Gallery to build on their learning from their 'Portraits' unit. Children enjoy exploring a wide range of portraits by different artists, including classic and modern art. Children also participate in a portrait hunt around the gallery where they look closely at the artwork and develop their understanding of portraits in a fun and engaging way.

Our Year 5 pupils take part in an educational visit to Shoreditch, where they explore a range of street art created by local artists. During the trip, children reflect on the meaning behind the artwork, consider the use of colour and technique, and discuss the emotions each piece evokes. This experience deepens their understanding of street art and the work of Banksy, enriching and bringing to life the learning covered within the Year 5 curriculum.

The year 3 pupils have the opportunity to visit the William Morris Gallery where they participate in a workshop led by an artist. In this workshop, children learn how to create their own printing blocks using craft foam. The children then create their own artwork by printing using the blocks they made.
