WELCOME TO THE ART DEPARTMENT!!!!
WHY ART IS IMPORTANT:
- Art is universal and present in every culture.
- Art provides a means to explore new avenues of thought and discovery.
- Art stimulates imagination and creative thinking skills.
- Art provides skills for individuals to communicate in ways other than verbally.
YOU WILL NEED:
Bring a pencil with you to take notes or to draw sketches. Supplies for projects will be provided for you.
DAILLY METHOD OF OPERATION:
On demonstration days, come into the room on time, take your seat, and be ready to watch and listen. On work days, come into the room on time, get our your current project and begin to work. Attendance will be taken at this time. If you are not in the room by the second bell you will be tardy.
AS AN ART STUDENT, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FOLLOW THESE THREE RULES:
1. Respect each other and each other's materials.
- Your will not interfere with the work of any other person in the art room. This includes the teacher teaching, the student working, guest artist, and classroom discussion.
- Only appropriate conversation will be allowed in the art room. The art room should be comfortable for everyone, without fear of being verbally offended or attached.
2. Use your time wisely. You will be expected to work the entire period. Bring extra school work or a book to read when you have completed your project and have extra time. You may also use this time to draw or look at art books.
3. Use the working areas and materials appropriately. You will need to clean your working area at the end of each class. You will also be responsible of cleaning supplies and putting them away. Also give yourself plenty of time to clean up, but not an excessive amount taking away from working time. Please do not waste materials.
If you choose not to follow this rules, points may be subtracted from your projects. Ms. Lilly may also to talk to you after class or after school. You may also earn a detention.
GRADING POLICY:
Your grades will be composed of points from homework assignments (rising star artists), quizes, sketches, projects and final test. Projects will be graded for craftsmanship and creativity. Quizes and final test will be over artists, art works, and terms.
I will use the grading scale in the student handbook.
