The mission of the PA Diversity Committee is to help create a safe and welcoming space for parents and the entire SSES community to address issues of diversity at the school and within our larger society. Our goals are to serve as a resource for parents, particularly those new to SSES, as they engage the school on matters of difference, as well as to work with the SSES administration to tackle barriers to and embrace opportunities for enhanced diversity. Our programs will aim to celebrate the full spectrum of issues of difference: race and class; learning differences; gender and sexuality; non-traditional families; gender equality, etc. We strive not to be comfortable, but rather to be brave and unafraid to question as we seek to become agents of change, in big ways and small, on issues of social justice and equality. And we aim to learn how to foster such a spirit in our children.
