Friday is Field Day - NOON Dismissal - snack provided.  The students only need to bring a water bottle with their name on it.  They will wear their team color shirt with gym shorts.  You can decorate shirts if you would like.  NO CARES

Today ( Monday 5/20) I am sending home Benchmark #6 for you to sign and their Final Sight Word Assessment for you to sign.  I need both packets returned by Wednesday 5/22.  These are placed in their portfolios for 1st grade.

Benchmark #6

Section 1 - Phonemic Awareness - The student was given a word and then they had to replace the first or last sound with the sound that was given to create a new word.  

Section 2 - Phonics - The student will circle the letter of the Alphafriend and circle the letter that makes the sound I give them.

Section 3 - High Frequency Words - Sight Words- the students circled the word that I gave them

Section 4 - Blending Words - the student had to read the word at the beginning and circle the picture that matched.  Numbers 8-10 they had to read the sentence and circle the picture that matches.  This section was completed independently.

Section 5 - Listening Comprehension - the students listen to a story and then answered the questions that followed.

Section 6 - Writing - the student had to draw a picture from their favorite story and then write why it was their favorite story.  This was done independently.

Final Sight Word assessment will also go home on Monday for you to sign and return by Wednesday. There were 83 words , plus color words and numbers words.

Save the Date!  Kindergarten's last day is May 31st.  :(  I cannot believe I am talking about the end of the year. 

The class we putting on an End of the year show at 10:00 in the basement of the church.  I will be sending home your child's play part(s) for the end of the year show on Monday, may 6th.

May 31st -

The students will be decorating shirts in a few weeks.  The shirts will be worn in their end of the year show.  The shirts will stay in school until they need to wear them.  To school on the last day May 31st the students will wear something nice on the bottom. Ex: nice shorts, skirts, skorts, or dresses. NO basketball or gym shorts.  The girls wear shoes that are either tied or buckled so they stay on their feet.  We will be on and off the risers and I do not want anyone falling.  On the top the students will wear their gym shirt.  We will change into our play shirts after snack.  This way they do not get anything on them.
