Save the Date!  Kindergarten's last day is May 31st.  :(  I cannot believe I am talking about the end of the year. 

The class we putting on an End of the year show at 10:00 in the basement of the church.  I will be sending home your child's play part(s) for the end of the year show on Monday, may 6th.

May 31st -

The students will be decorating shirts in a few weeks.  The shirts will be worn in their end of the year show.  The shirts will stay in school until they need to wear them.  To school on the last day May 31st the students will wear something nice on the bottom. Ex: nice shorts, skirts, skorts, or dresses. NO basketball or gym shorts.  The girls wear shoes that are either tied or buckled so they stay on their feet.  We will be on and off the risers and I do not want anyone falling.  On the top the students will wear their gym shirt.  We will change into our play shirts after snack.  This way they do not get anything on them.

MAY 17th - VOLUNTEER BREAKFAST - the students will wear a 70s inspired outfit to school for the event.  All are welcome to come and it is in the gym starting at 8:30.

MAY 24th - FIELD DAY - this is a fun morning for the school.  The school ( K- 8) will participate in Field day where they will have about 15 games they will compete in.  We go through the challenges/games as a grade.  The school/class are split into 2 teams.  A green team and a white team.  As soon as I know which team your child is on I will post them.  This is also a HALF DAY AND NO CARES.

This week in Kindergarten:

DIBELS -  I am going to begin the 3rd assessment with DIBELS this week.  It will take a few weeks but when I am finished I will email you the results of the DIBELS.

ELA: This week we are learning the letter "Yy."  This is our last letter of the year!  

FUNDATIONS - We have working on independently writing sentences on our own, and also identifying nouns, verbs and punctuation in the sentence.  Also we have started to scoop the sentence which helps to identify the phrases or segments in a sentence.  Also, we when write sentences we count how many words we hear so we know how many words should be in a sentence.

"c" will have the vowels - a, o, u in the middle

"k" will have i and e in the middle

MATH: Our new chapter is the calendar, days of the week, and we will be starting time in the next few weeks.  After that we will be working on numbers 1 - 100, counting by 5s and skip counting ( 2s).
