A certificate course on River: The Life of Bengal

River: The Life of Bengal is a certificate course that aims to provide an overview of the historical, cultural, ecological and economic significance of the rivers of Bengal. The course objectives are:

1. To introduce the students to the diverse aspects of the rivers of Bengal, such as their origin, evolution, morphology, hydrology, biodiversity, pollution, management and conservation.

2. To explore the interrelationships between the rivers and the people of Bengal, such as their livelihoods, settlements, religions, arts, literature, politics and movements.

3. To develop the students' skills in conducting fieldwork, data analysis, report writing and presentation on river-related topics.

4. To foster the students' awareness and appreciation of the riverine heritage and challenges of Bengal.

The course outcomes are:

1. The students will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the rivers of Bengal and their multifaceted roles in shaping the history, culture, ecology and economy of the region.

2. The students will be able to apply various concepts, theories and methods of geography, geology, hydrology, ecology, sociology, anthropology, history and culture to analyze the river-related issues and problems of Bengal.

3. The students will be able to conduct independent research on a river-related topic of their choice, using appropriate fieldwork techniques, data sources, analytical tools and presentation formats.

4. The students will be able to communicate their findings and opinions effectively, both orally and in writing, using relevant evidence and arguments.

5. The students will be able to appreciate the value and beauty of the rivers of Bengal and their contribution to the identity and diversity of the region.
