Bienvenue aux cours de français à Brookside! (Welcome to the French classes at Brookside!)
We are planning our 2024 trip now! There is still time to join us. We will be spending several days in Paris and the surrounding region followed by several days based in Montpellier in the south of France. Sites we will see or things we will do include:
In Paris:
The Louvre Museum
The Eiffel Tower
Arc de Triomphe
Versailles
Notre Dame
River boat cruise of the Seine River
Montpellier:
Carcassonne - well-preserved medieval double-walled fortified city with dry moat and drawbridge.
Pont du Gard - Largest and best-preserved Roman aqueduct in all of Europe.
Aix-en-Provence - founded by the Romans. Home of Cezanne, Aix and the surrounding area were inspiration for many of his paintings.
Hike up Mont Sainte Victoire - the subject of several of Cezanne's paintings
Arles (city founded by the ancient Romans and site of historic Roman buildings such as the arena). Also the place where Van Gogh spent several years and painted some of his most well-known paintings
Cassis - city on the Mediterranean
Marseille (2nd largest city in France - founded by the ancient Greeks)
Boat tour of the Camargue - national wildlife refuge on the coast of the Mediterranean. Home to over 400 species of birds, including pink flamingos. Also home to the Camarguais horses and cattle.
Boat ride to the Calanques (in the Mediterranean Sea)
Day at the beach on the Mediterranean

The tentative dates for the trip are June 9-18, 2024.
There will be at least two chaperones.
We need 18 paying travelers in order for the trip to take place
Parents are welcome to join us.
Fundraisers are available but I need parental involvement in planning them.
Students who have not taken French are welcome to join us as long as the following criteria are met:
Positive recommendations from two teachers or coaches that you have known for at least one full year
Approval by admin based on no history of serious behavior problems. Examples (these are not a complete list)
chronic tardies or absences do not constitute serious behavior problems
failure to turn in work or make up missing work does not constitute a serious behavior problem
defiance is a serious behavior problem
being involved in fights is a serious behavior problem
disregard for school rules and authorities is a serious behavior problem
