For this edition, we decided to take a turn off the beaten path. With our focus previously having been on specific sporting events, incidents, and teams, we thought it was a good idea to take a step back for a change in perspective. Sport has multiple elements that are not just limited to reportage on current events. Our goal as a magazine has always been to take a holistic worldview of the sporting world, and in this issue we have done just that. We have six articles for you that are as comprehensive as they are well researched, and we hope that they give you exactly that; perspective.
This issue, we decided to deviate from the norm a little. With the end of the IPL and the start of the international break in football, the October madness and congestion of important sporting events has cooled down significantly. In a bid to combat that saturation of mainstream sports, this edition, we chose to focus on more niche areas. We take a step out of the mainstream into an area we’re all too familiar with – introspection.
With this issue, we wanted to capture a more intangible idea - Resilience. While we're still living in an almost apocalyptic, pandemic-stricken world, most major sports leagues have resumed, adapting to the circumstances with whatever they have. Whether it's the NBA or F1 or IPL, every league has demonstrated resilience to the challenges presented by the pandemic. We wanted to delve deeper into what resilience means in sports - what have been the most pressing issues in sports, and how have we as a collective reacted to them
In the second edition of The Overtime Tribune, we wanted to focus upon the changes in and around sports as a whole due to COVID 19. The way different sports have adapted to the pandemic has been eye-opening in more ways than one, be it in the surge in online chess tournaments, or the introduction of social distancing and 5 substitutions in the world of football.
There is so much that fascinates us about sports, be it the players, teams, organizations, and even corporate key figures who play a major role in it. From Football to Basketball to Cricket to Volleyball to Tennis to just about any and every sport, if there is a story there, you can be assured that The Overtime Tribune is going try and talk about it.
