I believe in having a rock in my pocket.

I don’t mean an actual rock, I mean someone who is in my corner always ready to help. Someone who I know will always be there for me, to celebrate every moment, to cry through every heartbreak, to hang out when no one else wants to, to be there through the thick and thin, to notice every small detail about what I do.

On my birthday my friend got me gold jewelry. I know it might not seem like a big deal but it was. She noticed, taking into account that I wore gold even more than silver even if it was just for one day, she noticed. Also, she knows that I love horror movies, and so does she. This is one reason why we are such great friends. The only difference is that I need to have a death grip on someone's hand. She also knows this. We watched 2 scream movies, even though it was gonna make her hand red and sore, she still held my hand for 2 entire movies. Sometimes we fight, like any true friends do, we fight like we were siblings, because in some ways we are.  Normally they are about small things, like who ate the last peanut butter cracker or why the other person didn’t do their part of the project. She is always the bigger person and apologizes first. This makes me realize how important it is to have a good friend, someone who won’t drop you because you made a mistake. Because you can change schools and never talk to those kids ever again, or you change schools and call that person everyday. That is the kind of friendship I want to have, someone who will never forget me even if they are on the other side of the world. 

If you don’t have a rock, here are some tips to get one. First, find someone who always laughs at your jokes, especially if they're really bad dad jokes. Second, someone who knows you're not ok even if you say you are. Because they know everything and anything about you.Finally someone who listens to every story, even if it takes all day. If someone does all these things, you have a rock.
