Governor's Institute of Vermont - Winter Weekend:

A 48-hour immersion Institute packed with extreme learning and fun for all motivated 9-12th grade students. Students attending Winter Weekend will try out the intellectual exhilaration of a GIV summer institute in which they explore, laugh, perform, build, improvise, and more. • A leadership & development program for rising high school senior delegates.  The focus of the program is Vermont town, county and state government.  Delegates are elected and appointed to Town offices, the Legislature, Executive Branch, and Judicial Branch of government.  Delegates work on current issues relating to Vermont within their towns, and debate these issues at the State House in Montpelier on Thursday.

GREEN MOUNTIAN GIRLS STATE:   Deadline to register:  April 4, 2025

• American Legion Auxiliary Green Mountain Girls State is a nonpartisan program that teaches young students responsible citizenship and civic engagement.  

• All students identifying as female or non-binary are welcome to apply and attend

• Participants spend an intensive week of study, working together as self-governing citizens and learning how to participate in the functioning of Vermont's local and state government in preparation for their future roles as responsible adult citizens.  Participants spend time campaigning for local and statewide office, writing bills, and passing resolutions.

      • The all-expenses-paid program will be hosted on WashU’s campus. All food, housing, and activities will be provided free of charge. Program participants must reside in on-campus housing for the duration of the program.
