Check out who has inspired us with their AAC implementation!
This month, we are highlighting Jessica Luebbert & Megan Werner from Craig Elementary in the Parkway School District.
Megan and Jessica inspire students every day through their hard work and dedication to teaching language and literacy to a large caseload of students who use AAC. They recently organized an AAC awareness presentation for the entire 5th-grade class in conjunction with reading the book, Out of My Mind. The presentation included a former student and his mom, talking about their journey with AAC. In addition, current classmates shared with their peers (via their AAC systems) what they liked best about their "talkers." The presentation concluded with students experiencing what it is like to use an AAC system through hands-on activities. Thanks to these ladies, the entire 5th-grade student body was provided with a memorable learning experience.
Thank you Jessica and Megan, your enthusiasm around inclusion and AAC is inspiring to your school team and our district overall. Thank you for all of your efforts to increase understanding and acceptance of your students!
