Have you been out of school for a while but want to continue your education?
Are you missing a few courses for graduation but are not able to fit into the daily school schedule?
Do you have difficulty adjusting to the structure of a regular high school?
Do you have the willingness to accept responsibility for your own education?
If you answered yes to any of the above the Ft. Smith Phoenix School Program may be the opportunity you are looking for! Call us, or drop by for more information.
The classroom operates out of room 116 at PWK; please enter through the main doors. Certified teachers are available Monday to Friday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The classroom is also open evenings Monday to Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
When you enrol in the Phoenix School you have the option of taking a variety of courses ranging from levelled skill-building programs designed to help you meet the pre-requisites of other courses, to locally supported distance education courses, to courses offered by the regular high school. Our primary focus is to help you achieve your educational goal whether it be graduation, entry into the workplace, or post-secondary studies.
The Phoenix School is an alternative program because it is flexible in helping students move forward with their high school education while meeting other obligations such as family or work. Students are expected to enrol in a minimum of 15 credits of coursework (to be completed over the year). With support of the program teachers, students will develop an individualized educational plan (including a time-line). Regular conferences between the student and teacher will review progress and re-assess goals (if necessary). Progress towards your goals, NOT attendance, is key at the Phoenix School Program.
