Dear Rio Seco Families,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!

We would like to provide some information regarding the first day of school, drop-off, and parents on campus. For those of you that will not be accompanying your students to their classrooms, please remember that the drop-off lane in our main parking lot is NOT for parking.  We have nearly 1,000 students at Rio and the yellow curb area is reserved for those that can quickly exit the vehicle anywhere along the yellow curb.  The first couple of days of school will be incredibly busy, so we encourage you to use our entrances on River Walk, at the SportsPlex, and also the parking lot on the other side of Cuyamaca and utilize the pedestrian bridge to come across to Rio Seco.

The safety of the students and staff is the top priority at Rio Seco. Understanding that our younger and new students may need assistance finding their classrooms during the first few days of school, we will welcome parents to walk their child(ren) to the doors of our classrooms on August 20th - 22nd. There will be several adults around campus available to assist with finding classrooms on the first day. However, to ensure campus safety, starting August 25th, parents will be asked to say their morning goodbyes outside the gates.  Of course, we always welcome and encourage parents on campus as classroom volunteers and for special events such as Back to School Night, community events, Lunch on the Lawn, and PTSA events.  Volunteer applications are online on Rio Seco's homepage, and we will continue to have a sign-in process in the office for visitors.  Thank you for understanding and supporting a safe campus for everyone.

We look forward to another exciting year at Rio Seco and can't wait to see you all on August 20th at 8:30!

Where do students line up in the morning on the first day of school?

Students will go directly to their room on the first day of school.  The teacher will meet them at the door.  There will be staff on campus to help direct kids who need assistance.

When is Back-to-School Night?

3rd grade classes:  September 4: Please come to either the 6:00 or 6:30pm session.
