September District Resolutions
SEPTEMBER
San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the month of September as National Literacy Month. The schools of SRVUSD stand firmly committed to promoting reading as the catalyst for our students’ future academic, professional, and personal success. We are committed to providing the highest quality evidence-based instructional materials, screening and diagnostic tools, interventions, and supports so that every student becomes a proficient and engaged reader, writer, speaker, and listener.
SRVUSD encourages engagement with parents and caregivers so they can support literacy at home and enhance opportunities for exploration, fun, and in support of academic achievement.
San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the month of September as Citizenship Awareness Month. It is important that our students understand the basic principles of democracy and what it means to be an American citizen. Young people can play a critical role in our democracy by helping to choose the people who will lead us and by voicing their opinions on the issues that are important to them.
Students are encouraged to participate in the democratic process through voter education programs and involvement in civic engagement activities. District schools are encouraged to celebrate Constitution Day on September 17 and participate in California High School Voter Education Weeks during the last two weeks of September.
San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes September 15 - October 15 as National Hispanic Heritage Month. Hispanic and Latino Americans have made so many social, artistic, linguistic, and intellectual contributions to our society, the State of California, and our community. Their influence and rich history enrich our nation and our schools through their entrepreneurship, commitment to community service, deep value of justice and liberty and social and cultural life. As stated in the Multicultural Education Policy of the California State Board of Education, each student needs an opportunity to understand the common humanity underlying all people.

Life Skill Assembly
Sept. 25th
This month we are focusing on the Life Skill of Respect.
This year we will be focusing on each pillar in a new way. Throughout the month, our teachers will give Falcon Awards to students who emulate the qualities of each month's character trait.
The awards handed out at the Life Skill Assembly will be randomly selected from the Falcon Awards awarded during the month. When your child comes home with a copy of their Falcon Award this is when families should honor their child for showing respect, responsibility, caring, etc.
Shifting from the last few years, we are no longer giving awards to every student but focusing in on students who represent the character traits authentically. During the monthly assemblies, we will only be recognizing a few students per month, per class. We are working hard as a school to support & recognize our students for their positive life-skill behaviors as well as reinforce our VG Code of Ethics throughout our school days.
Moving forward this will be a student & staff assembly only.

REMINDER: Follow Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminders
Our parking lot is VERY TRICKY and can be dangerous if we don't ALL WORK TOGETHER for the safety of our children.
A Few Tips.!!! READ & FOLLOW each of the numbers in the image below.
DO NOT park and leave your car during DROP-OFF or PICK-UP in Lane A or Lane C. Lane B is for passing or leaving Lane A & C to exit the parking lot.
Pull forward in the lot until you can stop to safely let your child out of the car. DO NOT let them out into the Lane B side and DO NOT CUT in front of another car to pull into a spot. Wait in line until you can pull forward.
PLEASE LEAVE THE KEEP CLEAR section CLEAR and only pull forward once there is space to enter the lot past the Keep Clear section.
ONLY USE THE BIG CROSSWALK past the BIG TREE for student crossing. The small crosswalk is a handicap crosswalk.
Please review the full slide deck for more detailed information for TK/Kinder and 1st-5th grade drop off and pick up.
Parking Lot Procedures- Drop-off & Pick-Up
Your cooperation and attention in our lot are extremely important to ensure our students remain safe each day!
