The San Ramon Valley Unified School District uses Common Sense Education Digital Citizenship Curriculum. We encourage you to explore the Common Sense Media site because they have developed lessons to teach the different components of digital citizenship to children of all ages. They also have many great resources, including free downloadable posters and fun videos that you can use with your students.

These days, we are all consumers and producers of digital media and information. It takes all of us to promote and cultivate a culture of positive digital citizenship through mindful role modeling and making empathetic and ethical decisions.

How are we helping SRVUSD STUDENTS?

All of our schools are facilitating lessons that help students understand the short-term and long-term implications of choices they make online, how those choices impact themselves and others, and ways to think critically about information and images they see on a daily basis. Common Sense is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids thrive in a rapidly changing world and is one of the primary resources we use to teach digital citizenship concepts to students. There are a wealth of parent resources and tools which can help to strengthen our home-school connection.

We are providing teachers and staff with training about best practices and instructional strategies that effectively help manage devices and digital learning tools in the classroom.
