Hi! My name is Mrs. Nice, and I teach 7th grade Core at Pine Valley Middle School. I enjoy teaching middle school because of the students' energy and enthusiasm. Working with middle school students is never boring. They often say/do hilarious things, intentional or not, that bring a smile to my face.
I received my Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a double major in Cultural Anthropology and African History. I love the UCSC campus because it is beautiful; you can get a million-dollar ocean view on one side of campus and hike in the woods on the other. Also, our school mascot, Sammy the banana slug, is really cute and unique! I continued at UCSC and earned my teaching credential and Masters of Arts in Education.
Before coming to Pine Valley, I spent four years teaching eighth grade English, U.S. History, and reading support in the Mount Diablo Unified School District. I loved teaching eighth grade, but after four years, I felt I was ready for a new challenge. I've always enjoyed ancient and medieval world history, so I decided 7th grade was the perfect fit! I moved to Dublin and began working at a local middle school where I spent four years teaching 7th grade Core.
I have called the Bay Area home my whole life. Growing up, I lived in Benicia, Walnut Creek, Concord, and Lafayette. I currently live in San Ramon with my husband, daughter (seven years old), and son (four years old). We recently bought a house, so home projects keep us plenty busy on the weekends.
