My student is going to be out sick today. What do I do?
Call DVMS attendance line at 925-855-3379 to let us know. If a student feels well enough to do homework assigned the day of the illness; a friend in the same class should be called for the assignment. For this purpose, students should keep the phone numbers of a “homework buddy” or two for each of their 2 classes. You should also check Schoology, for daily assignments & class announcements. If a student is ill two or more consecutive days from school; please call the office by 9:30 a.m. on the third day to request make-up work. The teachers will attempt to assemble the assignments (per request) & have them in the office by 3:15 p.m. so that the work may be picked up the same day as requested. Please do not forget to pick up the requested work. Homework requests received after 9:30 a.m. may not be ready until the next day.

11-14 consecutive instructional day independent study contract: Must request and contact principal five to ten days in advance

What does a typical schedule look like for a 6th grade student?
Typically, 6th graders will take: CORE (three periods consisting of Language Arts, Reading, & Social Studies), Common Core 6th Grade Math, Science, PE, & an elective (Wheel, Band, or Strings/Orchestra). All students also have an advisory period in the morning for announcements, attendance, & school updates, as well as Eagles + Time two days a week.
Can I take Wheel & Band in 6th grade?
6th graders only have room in their schedule for one elective, so they will have to choose either Wheel OR Band; they cannot take both concurrently.
What do they teach in Wheel?
Sixth grade Exploratory Wheel is a year-long course made up of introductions to different elective options open to students when they become 7th & 8th graders. The wheel spokes are designed to expose students to a wide-range of learning opportunities, to develop their practical, hands-on skills, & to teach them to work cooperatively with others. Each Exploratory Wheel rotates in a pre-set schedule, with the number & type of wheel spokes varying at each site. Wheel spokes at DVMS are Art, Computers, & Study Skills (not necessarily in this order). The curriculum is based on California standards wherever applicable.
