My family moved from Abington, Pennsylvania to Loveladies in Long Beach Township in 1973 when I was going into 3rd grade. I was a student at the Ethel Jacobsen School in 3rd grade and then the LBI Grade School from 4th through 6th grades.
I was a student at Southern Regional Middle School then High School from 1977-1983. I participated in football, track & field, musical productions, concert band, marching band, chorus and the vocal ensemble.
After high school I attended Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville, Tennessee for one year and received a degree in Automotive and Diesel Mechanics. I realized a year later that this was not what I wanted to be doing for the rest of my life although, I am eternally grateful for the knowledge I gained from the school as well as the experiences. I then went back to some jobs in food service and decided to move forward, and I joined the military.
In 1985 I joined the United States Army. I attended basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia and was then assigned to the Berlin Brigade in Berlin, Germany for two years until 1988. After my tour in West Berlin, I was assigned to the 101st Airborne in Fort Campbell, Kentucky where I attended Air Assault School and Jungle Training School and was honorably discharged in 1990. Looking back at my experiences, especially in Berlin when the wall was still in tact, I feel as though they have greatly added depth to my teaching.
After starting college in 1990 I was recalled to the military in 1991 for Desert Storm, where I had to serve a few more months but luckily not in combat. It was after this that embarked on the long and winding road through many different jobs while attending college and finally earned my college degree from Stockton College (now University). I was then lucky enough to end up here as a teacher in 2001.
I am fortunate to be married to a wonderful woman, who also graduated from Southern in 1983, for 23 years. We have been blessed with two beautiful children, whose looks they obviously get from my wife, and I enjoy every moment possible I can with them.
I currently teach Advanced Placement United States History (APUSH) courses as well as regular United States History II courses, and in the past I have also taught AP European History courses. I have had the opportunity to be invited many times to grade the AP United States History (APUSH) exams in Kentucky and Florida, which I feel has benefited my teaching ability in that particular subject area greatly.
I am the SAT and ACT Testing Coordinator for the district which keeps me busy. I also enjoy being the advisor for different clubs (Chess Club & Chess Team, Model Congress & Model UN, and the Soldier Support Club) and being involved with student life at Southern Regional as much as possible.
I am happy to be doing what I love for 24 years and especially happy to be doing it at a truly great place...Southern Regional High School.
