7. Brief Report on the event:

Women Protection Cell organized “Ethnic Day” on 09-08-2019, on the occasion of Varalakshmi Vratham in Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute of Technology, Rotarypuram, Anantapur. All the girls and boys were requested to come in traditional dress to lit the spirit of festival season and to promote the Indian tradition and culture. The day started with Lakshmi Pooja, where all the faculty and students attended the pooja with devotional spirit wishing for the prosperity.

Speaking on the occasion, girls expressed their views that they were happy to celebrate this kind of Ethnic Day in colleges to encourage students in knowing our tradition and culture. They had new environment all in traditional wear and they need to have this kind of celebrations more in the campus. It was indeed a pleasant break from the monotony and the feel good factor had a very favourable effect on them.

8. Brief Report on the programme:

On 23rd September 2019, Women Protection Cell in association with NSS organized an Awareness programme on Health care and Nutrition for all girls at Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute of Technology. Dr. B. Divya Renuka, Consultant Gynaecologist and Dt. S. Sneha, Clinical Nutritionist from Care and Cure Hospitals, Ananthapuramu attended the programme. Dr. B. Divya Renuka broadly explained about the irregular cycles and its consequences, the problem which is faced by the majority of the girls in the present generation. She clearly explained how girls can overcome obesity, hair loss, and pimples by following some of the precautions. Dt. S. Sneha spoke about the malnutrition and eating disorders, which leads to adolescent Anemia. S. Sneha recommended the proper diet to be followed by the girls and to avoid junk food. Girls enthusiastically interacted with the doctors and clarified many of their problems. They expressed their happiness for conducting this kind of event which helped them to follow proper diet to avoid malnutrition and get gynic solutions which is a major problem.

Women Protection Cell in association with NSS conducted an awareness programme on Challenging Women at Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute of Technology for girls on 30th September 2019. S. Mahaboob Bi, Women Director from Rural Development Trust, Ananthapuramu, attended the programme to give awareness on how a woman can face challenges in her life. Speaking on the occasion she elaborated on the Gender discrimination, gender equality where men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. Mahaboob Bi extended the topic on gender equity, strengths and skills a woman need to face the competitive world. She motivated the girls to have values and principles in their life which will make them a respectable woman in the society and the best protection any woman can have is the courage. She even discussed on sexual harassment and gave the solutions to overcome the problems in her profession and society. Principal Dr. T. Hitendra Sharma, TPO Dr. M. 8 . Brief Report on the event:

Women Protection Cell has organized Rangoli Competition at Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute of Technology on 11-Jan-2020 on the eve of Sankranthi festival.. The students participated with great enthusiasm. Nearly 50 pairs have utilized the opportunity to prove their artistic, imaginative and creative skills to make bright and beautiful Rangoli’s. The students tried to prove their talent in the best possible way. They made different Rangoli’s depicting beautiful pictures on the theme of Save Girl Child, importance of Sankranthi festival, etc. The final judgement was given by the faculty members based on the theme, symmetry, colour combination, creativity and the neatness of the Rangoli patterns.

8. Brief Report on the programme:

Women Protection Cell in association with NSS organised workshop on Impact of Superstitions on our Lifestyles to all First year B. Tech students at Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute of Technology on March 19, 2020.

The objective of this workshop is to create awareness about its misconceptions and beliefs on superstitions, which are happening in today’s society.

Welcome note was given by NSS co-ordinator Mr. Chinnapullaih, introduced speaker of the programme Tarimela Amarnath Reddy, Convener Manavata, Blood Donation Organisation and Mr Salim Malik, Secretary of Jana Vigyana Vedika. Inauguration was done by the Principal of SRIT, Dr. T. Hitendra Sharma. He motivated the students that conducting this kind of programmes will help them to know the scientific reasons behind the beliefs of superstitions and may not get influenced by them.

Speaking on the occasion Tarimela Amarnath Reddy Garu told that superstitions are fundamentally irrational, widely and popularly accepted and impacts the behavior of the student community also. He shared his views and experiences with the students. He gave information regarding misconceptions, types of believes which are followed by people in today's society. He also showed different types of practical demonstrations such as hypnotism and scientific method behind the superstitions

Dr. G.K. Venkata Narasimha Reddy, HOD of CSE, the chief guest for valedictory Program concluded that organizing this kind of programs is an opportunity for the students to create awareness on superstitions and the misconceptions and believes behind it. The program was very well received and much appreciated by the students.
