"South Ripley educates students today to become responsible citizens of tomorrow."
South Ripley Community School Corporation is committed to incorporating STEM practices and experiences into classrooms at every grade level on a regular basis. To ensure success, we promote collaboration and support all students at each grade level. Specifically, this certification will help us provide additional access to STEM curriculum for our junior high and lead a path to our high school students. A corporation initiative is to achieve district STEM certification, according to the timeline established by the Indiana Department of Education. We are committed and supportive of the journey to becoming a STEM-certified district. We are excited about the opportunity to better prepare our students with future-ready skills through immersion in STEM curriculum.
We are committed to being an elite educational institution, empowering students to achieve their maximum potential. Digital learning and real-world problem solving are fully embedded into daily practice. Often teachers act as facilitators as they are learning, exploring, and collaborating alongside students. Our goal is to implement more STEM opportunities into classrooms as students find PLTW programs relevant, inspiring, engaging, and foundational to their future success. Integrating STEM is instrumental to the necessary development of the employability skills needed to adapt to the ever-changing demands of the work environment through the application of collaboration, teamwork, critical thinking, and communication.
South Ripley's mission and vision statements connect to Indiana's Priorities for STEM Education because we understand the benefit of exposing students to real-world applications, mentorships, and apprenticeships. We plan to support our students in their study of STEM education through a variety of guiding principles:
Problem-Solving and Inquiry-Based Learning
Increased access to integrated STEM education throughout the day
Implementation of employability skills (i.e. communication, collaboration, and teamwork)
Opportunities for students to become self-advocates while teachers facilitate
Include community partnerships within our STEM education
