Our STEM Coach teaches a daily STEM special and throughout the week has the opportunity to provide STEM instruction to all students grades K-6. Additionally, when not providing direct instruction to students, our STEM Coach works with our elementary principal to schedule time to be a resource for staff members in helping them implement PBL activities into daily classroom lessons. Our STEM Coach has received PLTW training and uses a train the trainer model to pass that knowledge along to staff members. This gives us a total of 1.5 FTE coaches in our district. Additionally, we have provided various opportunities for instructional staff to receive professional development on PBL activities so that we can transform the way learning is happening in our district and meet the requirements to become a STEM Certified school district within the timeline established by the IDOE.
