Living Earth is equivalent to a general high school introductory lab biology course combined with additional elements of Earth Science. Completion of this course meets California high school graduation requirements for Life Science credit.
The goal of this course is for you to gain a deeper understanding of biological processes as well as develop practical science skills that will adequately prepare you for being an effective citizen, pursue post-secondary science education, and explore potential careers in STEM.
Living Earth is the first course of a three-year Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) course pathway (Living Earth, Chemistry in the Earth, Physics in the Universe).
In Living Earth, students will develop proficient understanding and explain more in-depth the phenomena of the four disciplinary core ideas in life sciences:
Molecules to Organisms: Structures and Processes
Ecosystems: Interactions, Energy and Dynamic
Heredity: Inheritance and Variation of Traits
Biological Evolution: Unity and Diversity
