I grew up in Santa Rosa and graduated from Piner High School in 2009. I attended the SRJC off and on between 2010-2017 where I completed my Associates Degrees in General and Biological Sciences. During that time I ran an after school program for sixth graders, worked as a preschool teacher, and I was a manager at multiple different local coffee shops and a local wine lounge.
I graduated in 2019 from SSU with my Bachelors in Biology with a focus on Ecology & Evolution, and a minor in Chemistry.
While completing my undergraduate degree, I worked with the entomology and biodiversity outreach programs to bring science to elementary school children. My particular focus was on the impact of pollinators on our local agriculture.
I also spent two semesters on our coastline researching our local apex predator populations and the impacts they have on the food chain and the overall health of our oceans.
I immediately started my Single Subject Teaching Credential in Biological Sciences in the fall of 2019 and worked through the pandemic to complete the program in 2020.
I am currently pursuing my MA in Education with a focus on Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning.
I have been teaching for 5 years, 4 of which have been at SRHS. During that time, I have continued my education by taking courses through UC Berkeley, Dominican, Sonoma State, and EdEx, in Biotechnology, Evolution, Climate Change, and Ecology.
I have an extremely strong passion for science and always seek to continue my knowledge in the field!
I have been teaching Biology and AP Biology for five years, four of which have been at Santa Rosa High School. I absolutely love being and Panther and all of the relationships I've made over the years!
I became a teacher because I am a forever learner and I learn the most from my students! I've worked with kids for as long as I can remember, getting started as an aid for my previous second grade teacher, then as a specialist in a SPED classroom. When I was in college, I ran an after school program for sixth graders in East Santa Rosa and then I was a preschool teacher working with kids as young as 3 months old all the way up to second grade! When I began my teaching career, I taught 7th grade science at Cesar Chavez Language Academy.
I've always loved working with kids, and high school is by far my favorite age to work with. I feel so lucky that I have a career where I laugh every day!
Making genuine connections with my students is something that brings me so much joy, and to this day I am close with many prior students and their families, I've even taken past students to their college orientations and attended their college graduations!
My goal as a teacher is to meet every learner's needs so that every student I serve can achieve their true potential. I believe that every one of my students is a scientist and they all have the capacity to go above and beyond in their learning.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you!
