Weekly Homework
It is our belief that in first grade the primary benefits of homework are to develop a child’s responsibility and to allow an opportunity for families to monitor their child’s progress. We believe that family time is most important and that time spent on homework should not exceed 20 minutes a night. Please check your child's blue homework folder every Monday for homework.
#1 The Weekly Reading Log
Either listen to your child read a book at his/her level or read aloud to your child for at least 10 minutes.
#2 Weekly Spelling Packet
Every week your child will receive 6 new spelling words and 2 high frequency words to practice spelling.
#3 High Frequency Words (HFW)
Every week your child will receive 6 new high frequency words to memorize by sight.
#4 Math
Beginning after Thanksgiving, we will start sending home weekly math homework. This homework is meant to be a review of concepts we have already learned in class.
