The Board of Education believes that completing an organized and sequential course of study is the foundation that prepares students for post-secondary education and/or employment. In grades 9-12, a minimum of 220 credits are required for graduation. Students who successfully complete a year-long course will receive 10 credits (5 credits for each semester), provided attendance requirements are met.
Details of the district’s graduation requirements are found in Board Policy 6146.1, or information may be obtained on the district website.
If a student does not meet ALL of the requirements, the student will not receive a diploma nor attend the graduation ceremony. Each student must earn a minimum total of 220 credits.
Santa Rosa City Schools (SRCS) adopted a policy that aligns high school graduation and the A-G requirements. To ensure that all students take college preparatory courses and have the option of applying to a wide range of colleges and universities, students must meet these requirements with a D or better in order to earn a high school diploma. To be UC/CSU eligible, students must complete these courses with a C or better.
A-G are 15 year-long college preparatory courses established by the University of California (UC). These are the minimum required courses students must take during high school in order to be eligible to apply to UCs/CSUs. SRCS's high school graduation requirements are aligned with A-G requirements for class of 2022 and beyond; however, there are slight differences.
