In Section 1 you:
looked at the process of problem-based learning
thought about the implications of working in teams
wrote about working in teams
submitted Activity
In Section 2 you will:
Get into your PBL groups
Choose a problem for your team’s research from the “bank” of problems
Brainstorm what you already know about the problem
Write a description of the problem
Do a survey to get some initial data
Create a PBL Folder to share between members and the teacher
We have discussed PBL and working in teams. Your teacher will now share the problems with you.
Remember that each group will research a different problem, so no two groups can choose the same one.
Read the problems carefully and choose one.
Download or save the document describing the problem and what your aims are.
In your teams discuss the answers to the following questions and make notes together:
What is the definition of this problem?
What do you already know about the problem?
What do you think are the causes and effects of this problem in Oman?
What are the short-term (immediate) and long term effects of this problem in Oman?
Who are you (mentioned in the description), and what is the problem asking you to do (your aim)?
Note: you are not asked to solve the problem yourselves. You are asked to research the problem and suggest possible solutions for others to act on (such as the Government, or companies).
You are now ready to work on Assignment 1 and Assignment 2
