Our academic intervention program offers students with academic needs the opportunity to build on prior knowledge, as well as instill new skills in a small group setting. One of our many goals is to provide for the individual needs of our students while continuously improving their academic experience. Academic Intervention (AIS) is available to students in grades kindergarten through 8. We utilize both a push-in and pull-out model while supporting students in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. Students who need additional support to be most successful within the classroom setting may qualify for intervention. Classroom teachers will recommend a student for AIS by sharing their findings at our weekly Child Study meetings.
Our school counselor, Mrs. Urso, helps and supports our students both academically and emotionally. Throughout the school year, Mrs. Urso presents character education lessons to all our our students. Lesson topics are, but not limited to, bullying, kindness, making good choices, study skills, responsibility, preparation for high school, and many more! Each year the school celebrates Unity Day. On this day, the whole school dresses in orange to show support for a bully-free school! Mrs. Urso hosts "lunch bunch" to help students new to the school connect with classmates and to help students with social interactions. Mrs. Urso is also available for individual counseling and will meet one-on-one with students to listen to their concerns about academic, emotional, or social problems, Mrs. Urso works with students and their families to help process their issues, set goals, and take steps toward a solution.
