No previous arts classes or experience is required to apply for CPPA. You simply must have a passion/desire for the arts and want to pursue them as a possible career choice. If you have taken an arts class, you need to have made a "B" or better in that class. (Again, it is not a pre-requisite to take one.) As a part of the application, you will also need two teacher recommendations. If you have had an arts/music class, one of those recommendations should be that teacher. If you have not had an arts/music class, then any two teachers of your choice is acceptable.
If you are applying to be a part of a performance track, then you must include an audition video as a part of your online application. If you are applying to do a technical track, then your video will simply be you talking to the camera.
Your videos can be recorded at home, at school, or in the surrounding area. Please read the requirements for each CPPA department focus area carefully and contact michaelcamenisch@spsk12.net with any questions.
Two Distinct instrumental selections (Roughly 90 seconds each):
1. It is recommended that one selection be from an art song, classical song, or traditional song.
2. A second selection should be from the area of preferred performance such as musical theatre, pop, jazz, blues, etc.
3. Play two (2) scales of your choice on your instrument.

Two Distinct vocal selections (Roughly 90 seconds each):
1. It is recommended that one selection be from an art song, aria, or other material from the classical repertoire. A music theatre ballad (non-belt), spiritual, folksong, or the National Anthem are acceptable. Please be sure to present these without pop style ornamentation (vocal riffs, extraneous decorative runs, etc.)
2. A second selection should be from the area of preferred performance such as musical theatre, pop vocal, rap, R & B, gospel, etc.
3. Sing one (1) scale using Solfege (Do, Re, Mi Fa, etc.) ascending and descending.
Note: At the start of each video, please make sure to state your (1) name, (2) school currently attending, (3) name of the song selection, and (4) the composer who wrote it. If the song is from a musical theatre show, please state that as well, along with the composer's name. Songs should be memorized, sung with piano accompaniment or karaoke CD/mp3 with no vocals. (Background vocals are acceptable, but no lead singer). Applicants may sing a cappella (without accompaniment), but accompaniment preferred. Please do not sing any from composers Stephen Sondheim or Andrew Lloyd Webber. Do not sing Happy Birthday.

Present one monologue, either comedic or dramatic that is from theatrical literature (roughly 90 seconds in length).
Note: At the start of the video, please make sure to state your (1) name, (2) school currently attending, (3) name of the theatrical show the monologue is from, (4) the name of the author, and a super brief setup that will help us understand the selection. (e.g. My name is Mr. Camenisch, and today I will performing a monologue from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. This is from the balcony scene.) Please avoid using stand-alone monologues found on the internet, if at all possible. Choose a monologue that comes from a known theatrical work/play. Please make sure that the audio on the recording is clear without any distracting ambient sounds. Please make sure that the background is a plain, solid-colored background (wall with no pictures will work). Also, please make sure that the lighting and camera angle are complementary, adding to the quality of the video and not distracting from it.

Technical Theatre Film/TV, Electronic Music
Please submit a video "interview" of yourself, approximately 2 minutes in length. Simply talk into the camera and tell us any experience you have, if any, in the track you are interested in studying. Please tell us about your passion for the arts and what you hope to learn or gain from being a part of CPPA.
Note: At the start of the video, please make sure to state your (1) name, (2) school currently attending, and (3) the CPPA track you are interested in (Technical Theatre, Film/TV, or Electronic Music).
