Mr. Smith's class

Welcome 8th graders and families!

Hello all! My name is Mr.Smith, and I will be your Math/Science teacher this year. I'm excited to get this interesting year started with everyone!

Any resources, websites, and other links that you will need for my class will be connected to this website, under each class page.

For Math, our first Unit will focus on Geometric transformations, how to describe those transformations, how to describe a shape, and whether two shapes are/ are not congruent. We will spend more time on our planned math curriculum on in-person days, and focus more on building remedial skills on our distance days. Daily assignments will include: class discussion, Open-Up Math Resources, videos, Desmos, Dreambox, Group and independent problem solving practice.

Students should be prepared daily with a charged iPad and completed work from the previous day. All assignments and assessments will be reviewed and used as formative and summative assessments for learning targets and/or reported in Habits of Work grades (Engagement, Interaction, and Preparation).
