Below are several great online resources organized by subject area. These are not Springs Charter Schools websites. However, they are a collection of websites that have been shared with me by other Education Specialists and their homeschool families.

Online Services Offered through SCS:
www.aleks.com: A web-based, artificially intelligent assessment and learning system for math concepts for grades 3-12. It uses interactive tutoring, assessments, and pie charts giving learning modes, immediate feedback, review and worksheets. $35 per year/per student. Recommended 3 days a week in program. www.IXL.com: A web-based supplemental math program for K-8 that encourages students to learn from their mistakes and learn at their own pace. This site approaches math concepts from all angles, offering visual representations, word problems, interactive activities and more. $ 30 per year/per student. Order online via BookMart.
www.unitedstreaming.com: A great site to view archived videos, and is great for the visual and auditory learners. River Springs passcode for new users: E722-D725. Enter passcode and then set up your own account. Free to River Springs families.
www.rosettastone.com: Supplemental enrichment for foreign language instruction for grade 2-12. An interactive immersion online program. A separate workbook ($10) can be ordered for some languages. $99 per year, per language, per student. Order online via BookMart.
www.powerspeak.com: Online foreign language instruction for elementary, middle and high school levels. Price varies for level. Order online via BookMart.
www.meetthemasters.com: K-8 art curriculum that is easy to teach! There are 3 parts: 1. online art history slideshow 2. worksheet technique pages, and 3. your students create a work of art based on the lesson. There are three different tracks and the cost per track is 37.95. Order online via BookMart.
www.enchantedlearning.com: Search by topic to find information, worksheets, printable books, ideas, activities or crafts. It is free to our families. User Name: riversprings Password: rscs
www.edperformance.com: Scantron Assessment; Great assessment tool to help assist you in determining your student’s strengths and weaknesses in Math and Reading. The user name is the student’s first initial and last name. The password is the student’s 10 digit SSID number. The site ID for Home School is 95-8175-1367. Grades 2-12 test in September and May to show growth and get current LEXILE level for choosing independent readers.
www.readingA-Z.com: Reading A-Z offers a comprehensive collection of online reading resources in phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, general vocabulary, content area vocabulary, high-frequency words, and the alphabet. More than 2,200 downloadable and printable books, including a collection of about 700 leveled readers written to 27 levels of reading difficulty and available in English, Spanish, and French.
Other Services Offered:
Resource Library: Site near the Temecula Office that houses and checks out used books and supplies through SCS.
Writing Assessments: Your ES can provide you with writing rubrics and prompts for each grade level in the Fall and in the Spring to better your evaluation of your students writing.
LARP: Language Arts Remediation Program is a great literacy training program for parents with struggling readers. Contact your ES and Jacki Hike for information.
Field Trips: Various great trips organized by the school to take advantage of group rates and tours. Sign up on Bookmart!
High School Guidance Counselor: Available to all River Springs families. The guidance role is the assist with academic planning, college entrance requirements, and post graduation goals. Call 951-252-8800 to speak with this department. 7th-12th grade recommended yearly meetings.
SPREE: Parent Workshops/Family Days: Periodically offered to parents on various subjects including Power Tools Brain Based learning Strategies, etc. and how to teach these areas effectively. Great activities for the kids.
Math and Algebra Workshops: Periodically offered to parents and older elementary and up on various subjects including Fractions, Decimals, etc. and how to teach these areas effectively. Activities for the kids.
Parent Certification: A training and empowering program for parents as home educators offered through main courses and electives that earn you free Language Arts books or classes for each of your students upon completion. Sign up at the SCS website or with parent.certification@riverspringscharter.org
Pechanga Summer Conference: Offered mid-August to support parents/teachers/ESes with workshops, vendor showrooms and school information for the Fall.
Assessment: Various types of assessment are available through your ES at your request including Reading Level, Learning Styles for you and your students (called Kaleidoscope), Grade Level placement, etc. Contact your ES if this is a concern of yours.
STAR/CAHSEE Testing support: Since these tests are mandatory in the state of California, we offer as many ways as we can to help your students feel successful. Your ES can provide you with extensive benchmarks and standards required at each grade level. Visit www.cde.ca.gov for downloadable prep materials on the tests and expect a booklet around January each year to practice the format. Ask your ES for dates that will be around the end of April to beginning of May 2012.
RTI: If you are concerned about learning or speech disabilities in your student contact your ES about a referral to our RTI team comprised of you, your ES and select Special Education staff to compile an Action Plan or Individualized Education Plan for your student to set goals and work toward improvement.
Mobile Science Lab: Students in grades 9-12 who are enrolled in Science classes can participate in Wet Labs. See the website www.riverspringscharter.org for more info.
Spelling Bee: Participate in a school spelling bee that can move you on to the county and state levels. Contact your ES and start studying!
Curriculum Preview: Come see popular books and our boxed sets to plan for your next year of instruction! Check the school calendar for dates.
Inspired Learner Expo: Have your student present a display board or performance on something they have learned this year. Contact your ES to sign up.
