Private Lessons

What is a private lesson?

A private lesson is one-on-one instruction between a student and a professional musician on the student's instrument. As opposed to tutoring in other school subjects, private lessons are not “remedial.” Instead, individual study with a professional musician allows students the opportunity to advance and grow at their own pace. Due to the individual attention and the customized curriculum, private lessons are one of the best investments you can make towards your child's music education.

Bammel MS and Spring ISD have gone to great lengths to ensure that students get the opportunity to receive the highest quality instruction on each individual instrument. Many of our instructors perform with the Houston Symphony and Houston Grand Opera. Private lessons are available and strongly recommended to all members of the BMS band program.

Why should my child enroll in private lessons?

There are generally four reasons for students to take lessons on their instrument.

When will my child be able to take lessons?

Lessons are held weekly at Bammel MS during the school day, or before/after school. The exact time will be discussed between the band directors, the student, and the lesson teacher.

How much do lessons cost?

A lesson with one of the band directors is FREE!

However if you would like for your student to have a lesson with one of our district specialists lessons generally last 30 minutes and cost approximately $20 per lesson. After you turn in a private lesson enrollment form and a one-time $60 deposit, Spring ISD will send a monthly bill by mail based on the number of lessons received that month. You do not need to send payments directly to the band directors or the lesson teacher. Spring ISD has been able to secure special rates that are far below what these esteemed musicians generally charge their students.

How do I enroll my child in private lessons?

In order to enroll your child in lessons, please see your child's band director to receive a private lesson enrollment form. This form must be returned with a one-time $60 deposit so that your child can be assigned a teacher. Once the form and deposit has been received  you and your child will be given information about your new teacher and when your lessons will occur.
