Offered Courses
The Bammel Middle School Band program is divided into four different groups:
Beginner Band
Beginner Band classes are for students with little or no prior background in playing a band instrument. Students will learn: how to produce a characteristic sound on their instrument, how to read music, and to understand basic musical terms and skills. Members of Beginner Band will perform in at least two concerts during the year, and will perform a solo given to them by the directors. Beginners will be required to attend scheduled rehearsals in order to prepare the entire group for a performance, these rehearsals will be communicated and will range from 3-5 rehearsals a semester.
Sub Non-Varsity Band
This class is for students that can already read music, create a characteristic tone, have a strong foundation of technique on their instrument, and are knowledgeable enough to prepare music outside of the classroom. Concert Band members perform 4+ times in a school year and compete in band competitions such as District Band, Solo & Ensemble, Splashtown Music Festival, and Pre-UIL.
Participation in the UIL Concert & Sight reading Evaluation for the Sub Non-Varsity class is at the discretion of the directors and if the class meets the requirements stated in the UIL guidelines.
Weekly sectionals and full band rehearsals are a requirement in this class, attendance will count towards the student's overall grade in the class. Saturday Rehearsals may be scheduled with the group; these rehearsals will be communicated and may count for a grade.

Varsity Band
This is the top-performing ensemble and is designed for the highest performing students in the program. These students exhibit strong music-reading/sight-reading skills, quality tone production, technical facility on their instrument, and eagerness to perform difficult music. Students in this group show a robust interest in playing and performing at a high level.
Varsity Band students perform 6+ times in a school year and compete in band competitions such as District Band auditions, Region Band auditions, Solo & Ensemble, Splashtown Musica Festival, PreUIL, and UIL Concert & Sight Reading. The Varsity band also performs during pep rallies, football games, 5th grade recruitment tours, and other off campus events.
