The Career and College Exploration II course is a required 8th-grade course designed to guide students through the process of investigation and the development of a high school, college, and career achievement plan. Students will explore their interests, abilities, and educational and career information to make informed decisions. This information will be used to explore educational requirements for a variety of chosen career paths. Students will:
Complete self-assessment tests to identify their interests, skills, abilities, and aptitudes
Explore and research the 16 Career Clusters to help students identify the many career choices available to them
Research career choices to identify the availability, educational requirements, potential income, and descriptions of job duties
Identify components of resumes and cover letters, practice completing applications, and demonstrate a knowledge of interview techniques
Career and College Exploration II is a semester-long class. Students should be scheduled to take this class in the fall.
