Emergency Sub Plans for Science:
Assignment #1 (2 days)
Directions: Students will work with a partner to use data to determine if home team actually has an advantage.
Materials:
Home Field Advantage Lab Data.pdf
Procedure:
1. Download both documents above and share the document with your partner.
2. Read purpose and research and then make your own hypothesis.
3. Select a sport and scroll to the corresponding data for that sport.
4. Determine if the home team has an advantage or not by finding how many times the home team won out of all of the games played for that sport.
5. Make a conclusion based on your data.
Assignment #2 (2 days)
Directions: Students will create a Safety Poster that can be displayed in the classroom to visually represent one of the lab safety rules used in class.
Materials:
Procedure:
1. Download Lab Safety Poster Activity. You can complete it digitally or print it out.
2. Think of a safety rule from class and make a slogan for that rule.
3. Create picture that goes with the rule.
Assignment #3 (2 days)
Directions: Students will select two articles from Science News for Students website and write a one paragraph summary of each in their notebook.
Materials:
Science News for Students Website
Procedure:
1. Click on link above to Science News for Students Website
2. Browse the articles and select two articles that interest you.
3. After reading two articles, write a one paragraph summary in your notebook.
Assignment #4 (2 days)
Directions: Students will create a crossword puzzle using clues from the current unit.
Materials:
Procedure:
1. Download the Crossword Puzzle. You can complete it digitally or print it out.
2. Think of 10 vocabulary words from this unit.
3. Create a clue to identify the vocabulary word.
