NETBALL AND HOCKEY TRIALS

We have held a series of Netball and Hockey Trials in preparation for the Winter Sport season and in order to select teams to participate in all of the upcoming tours. For those parents who missed the Sports Tour timeline in past newsletters, please see the timeline here again.

It is important for all players and parents to be aware that the teams selected are provisional teams and changes between the teams, up or down, will be continuous throughout the season as players mature and develop their skills. The fluidity of the teams is an integral part of the development of Springfield sport as a whole. We will encourage the girls to view any movement between teams as a learning experience and a part of life and we will guide them through this process.

Notice: There will be Netball and Hockey trials on Friday 21st February 2020 from 14h30 to 15h30 for any U19 Netball or Hockey players who want to play social hockey or play for a 2nd/3rd/4th team. Those U19's who have already been to 1st and Touring team Netball and Hockey trials need not attend these additional trials. Please note that it is essential to sign up for these trials on the sheets that are on the notice board outside the Sports Office. Everyone is encouraged to participate!

SWIMMING

Congratulations to all the swimmers that swam in the gala at Fish Hoek last week. We are really proud of how far we have come this season with Springfield placing 1st overall. A special well done to the under 14 team that won all of their races. Thank you to all the teachers and girls that came out to support. Let's keep it up girls!

ROWING

On Wednesday 12 February 2020, seven of our Springfield girls flew to East London to compete in the Buffalo Regatta. We are so proud of these girls. They have put in so much hard work but still had such fun achieving some excellent results. A massive congratulation is due to them for their progress from the beginning of the year. They have shown the Eastern Cape what PGRC , Springfield and Western Cape rowing is about and we cannot wait to see what more kudos they can bring to Springfield. Well done, ladies!
