Ohio State Standards for Social Studies
HISTORY
We will discover the early civilizations of India, Egypt, China and Mesopotamia, learn about their governments, economic systems, social structures, religions, technologies, agricultural practices and products.
GEOGRAPHY & MAP SKILLS
We will utilize maps and other geography tools to gather and report information about people and places. We will use latitude and longitude to identify absolute locations. We will also discover a variety of physical environments within the Eastern Hemisphere and learn how they influence human activities.
ECONOMICS
Economics is the interaction of supply and demand, needs and wants, and factors of production. It also includes comparing data sets, global trade, and specialization.
GOVERNMENTS & MAJOR WORLD RELIGIONS
Governments can be categorized as monarchies, theocracies, dictatorships or democracies. The citizens’ liberties and responsibilities vary according to limits on governmental authority.
We'll learn about the origin and basic beliefs of all five of the major world religions.
