This summer, SWHS journalist teacher Josh Ault, got to meet ABC World News Tonight anchor David Muir and Nightline anchor Juju Chang in New York City. He got to shadow the journalist at ABC News Headquarters for an entire day! Congratulations to 9th grader Camila Aguilar for winning runner up in the 2025 Milton Wolf Prize in Student Advocacy Competition. She created a news report on gun violence. Her report showed the problem and solutions. She won a $250 prize!
The editors of the Regit and Safari had their FINAL press conference with Dr. Blaine on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
2025 UIL Journalism Competition: On March 29, the journalism students competed in UIL in Richmond, Texas. We came out with FIVE awards! 12th grader Emely Zapata won 2nd in Headline Writing, 12th grader Arianna Flores won 6th place in Editorial Writing, 9th grader Albert Valle won 6th place in Feature Writing, 11th grader Emily Limas won 5th place in Feature Writing, and 12th grader Alison Rameriz won 6th place in News Writing! Congratulations!
The Safari and Regit editors met with school officials for a press conference at Stratford High School on February 27 to ask questions that students needed answers to. Stay tuned for their answers in the next Regit!
ABC News anchor Juju Chang visited the journalism students on April 11! She told them about her amazing career and gave them advice about being future journalist! Chang is the current co-anchor of Nightline.
