Josh Ault is in his third-year teaching at Spring Woods High School. He is the journalism teacher at SWHS. Ault is advisor for the student yearbook, student newspaper, student newscasts, and much more! Mr. Ault has previously taught at George Dawson Middle School in Southlake, Texas and Robert T. Hill Middle School in Dallas, TX. This is his 11th year in education.
Before becoming a teacher, Mr. Ault was a TV reporter for 10 years. He worked at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, LA, KTRE-TV in Lufkin, TX, WAFF-TV in Huntsville, AL, WATE-TV in Knoxville, TN, and KXAS-TV in Dallas, TX. He was a reporter, photographer, anchor, and editor.
He got his start in journalism as a radio announcer. He worked at KTEZ-FM in Many, LA, KDBH-FM in Natchitoches, LA, KQID-FM in Alexandria, LA, and KNGT-FM in Lake Charles, LA.
Ault graduated with a journalism degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA.
He won a Lone Star Emmy in 2022 for a story he did on George Dawson for his school in Southlake. He was nominated for his second Emmy in 2024 for a story he did on the Holocaust for Classrooms Without Borders based in Pittsburg, PA.
Mr. Ault has traveled the world attending teacher development programs. He has gone to Nepal, Ghana, Poland, and Peru.
He was named Spring Woods High School Teacher of the Year in 2025 and the Spring Branch ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2025.
