Dear Journal,
I am General Robert Edward Lee. I was born into the two most prominant families in Virginia, on a plantation in Arlington. I graduated 2nd in my class at West Point Military Academy in 1829. I have a degree in engineering, yet I am a career military officer. I am a Full General in the Confederate Army. I have an excelent character and a well-respected leader. I strongly dissapprove of slavery. It is wrong and immoral. Blacks are indeed inferior to Whites, but there is a difference between segregation and slavery. Humans should not own other humans, but there are situations where races must be seperated.
I am currently 54 and have been happily married to my wife, Mary Custis Lee, for 30 years and we have seven beautiful children together: Annie, Agnes, Custis, Mary, Mildred, Robert Jr., sand Rooney. We live on the same plantation I was born on in Arlington.
I look foward to the many adventures this war will take me on.
Yours,
