All Roads lead to Death
Johnny was on a run,
A winning streak they say,
And not before long
It would be on Billy's land they lay.
A. P. Hill was looking for supplies,
And all roads lead to death,
So even though Johnny wanted shoes,
He would soon catch Billy's breath.
On the first day they say,
Johnny killed Billy's commander
With a bullet to the head,
The world lost Reynold's candor.
Lee arrived mid-afternoon
And Billy regrouped on the hill.
Lee told Ewell to attack,
His men he didn't want to kill.
On the second day they say,
Billy held the high ground.
Meade put Billy in a hook,
With shells, Johnny is pound.
Both are fighting for Round Top,
Land that could put the battle on halt,
Billy called to fix bayonettes,
Deadly was the assult.
On the third day they say,
Johnny was a massacre.
Billy wounded Pickett,Â
It was all a disaster.
Johnny had been beaten bad
And retreated across the river.
Wounded outnumber 12 to 1,
Citizens become caregivers.
So all roads lead to Gettysburg,
Or atleast they do today,
But back in 1863,
Johnny would have had it any other way.
