Important Morning Drop Off Information!
With the increased number of students in the building this year, the lobby is becoming too chaotic in the morning. The 7:20 drop off time was put in place to accommodate our bus riders and families with special circumstances. During this time in the morning, our office staff is getting ready for the upcoming day and answering phones. Therefore, we are strongly urging you to please keep your students in the car until the 7:35 bell that allows them to walk down to their classrooms. If you have a special circumstance that necessitates your child to come into the lobby to wait for school to start, please contact the school office.
We are also continuing to work on a plan that will improve the traffic flow in our parking lots for both the morning drop off and afternoon pick-up. It will probably not happen until late November when our new door system is installed and we have additional capabilities that will allow us to utilize more than just the lobby doors.
We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we strive to make St. Peter’s safe for our students and families.
ATTENTION! IMPORTANT!
ALL schools in the LCMS are now required to have ALL people who will have ANY access to our children to complete a Sexual Abuse Awareness Training. This includes YOU!
We're using Ministry Safe, an online platform that provides curriculum and training resources to ministries across the country. They are dedicated to sexual abuse awareness and prevention. MinistrySafe and Abuse Prevention Systems (APS) provide comprehensive training, screening, background checks and policy forms supporting safety systems that reduce the risk of child sexual abuse. MinistrySafe and APS provide these resources in a ‘self-help’ context meaning that you will watch a video during your own free time and take a simple quiz to earn your certificate.
Certificates will show up on my dashboard once you have completed your training—no need to print out your certificate.
YOU MUST COMPLETE THIS TRAINING BEFORE YOU CAN VOLUNTEER IN THE SCHOOL OR ATTEND A FIELD TRIP!! (Even if you are only driving your own child.)
If a member of your family would like to attend a field trip or volunteer in the school and we do not have their e-mail address, you must get that info to the office so I can send them the link to the training. Links are personalized PLEASE DO NOT SHARE.
Caution!
With so many new students in the building, we have a lot more cars in the parking lot. It is IMPERATIVE that all cars are following the arrows and driving slowly in our parking lots. Our #1 priority is keeping our students SAFE!
Reminder!
Parents, you are always MORE THAN WELCOME to walk down to the classrooms after school to check your child's locker and / or desk. 😃
IF we had the opportunity to have a band instructor come to St. Peter's would your child / children be interested? Please LET ME KNOW.
A couple of things to consider....
You will be responsible to buy / rent your child's instrument
We have to have enough interest to actually form a band - a couple woodwinds, brass, percussion...
We would be getting the band instructor from Lutheran High North and sharing him with 3 or 4 other Lutheran schools, so we would have little say on when instruction takes place, meaning students who participate may miss instruction in core classes and will have to make that up on their own.
Band typically starts in 5th grade
There MAY be an additional fee to participate
This is all very preliminary - I have to know if there is even enough interest before I can go any further with the planning. We don't want this to be just a one year endeavor so I also need to know if students who are not yet in 5th grade will be interested in the future. K-4 parents Please LET ME KNOW.
