It has been a busy few weeks getting used to the changes that Covid 19 has brought, but in true OPH style, our Art and Design students have already been WOWing us with some amazing work.
Not only have we seen changes to how we currently use our whole school building, we have seen some pretty awesome changes to the Art and Design Department as well. We have gone from one open plan workshop, to 3 specialist rooms and a post 16 study room! Mr Smith's Fine Art workshop is now a large room with access to the kiln room, potters wheels and the wash out booth, Miss Cove has a purpose planned Textile Design room with 12 sewing machine, andMs Tyrrell's Photography room is fully equipped with 15 new PC's and plenty of space for practical studio photography.
Our Post 16 students now have a dedicated space to work in and outside of lesson time. This space is already filled with some fantastic work. Well done ladies, a great start to this year.
Below are a few progress photos from over the summer.

Thank you for sharing them.

Just before lockdown I spent the morning at the Sutton Library Gallery putting up the annual Youth Art Exhibition in conjunction with Arts Network Sutton.
Unfortunately, due to Covid 19 pandemic and the need for social distancing the event was closed, and the amazing artwork did not get the recognition and viewing it so rightly deserved.
Below are a few snaps I took during the day of work being displayed by schools in the borough.

This year the Carshalton Artists are very disappointed that the event couldn’t take place for obvious safety reasons but are delighted that there will be an online version, see below for further details for this event running from 27th June to July 5th which will also feature demos and workshops straight from the artists online!
Please visit the CAOS website, it’s an ideal opportunity to enjoy the artists’ online shops/studios and for students to see a host of local talented artists within one website and many different disciplines to enjoy and research for contextual studies as well. Visit http://www.carshaltonartists.com and Instagram @carshaltonartists as well.
