The Art and Design Department at Oaks Park High would like to welcome you to our department and online gallery space.
We aim to provide you with lots of information about our projects, department news and updates, and most importantly, our students' work!
Sharing and showcasing our students' work is a priority in our department, and we want to celebrate our students' success.

The Art and Design Department will inspire our students to become confident, ambitious, self-motivated independent artists and designers. Our imaginative curriculum and broad spectrum of disciplines including Fine Art, Textiles Design and Photography, will instil a passion for art and design, and lifelong love of learning.
With a commitment to promoting open minded, creative, critical reflective thinkers, who have the courage and confidence to discover and contribute to the world around them. Our students will be prepared to go on to college and careers within the creative industry. All students are encouraged to develop a ‘can do’ attitude towards art and design.

The Art and Design department currently consists of 3 full time members of staff each with their own specialism, Mr Smith Fine Art, Ms Tyrrell Photography and Miss Cove Textile Design. We also have a part-time technician Mr Fletcher. The Art and Design department works collaboratively with Design and Technology at KS3, and at KS4 as three-dimensional design is also offered at GCSE level.
We pride ourselves on our enthusiastic, supportive and friendly approach to the department. We are housed in an new purpose planned department consisting of 3 specialist rooms, and a dedicated Post 16 study space.
Our facilities include a kiln room and two potters’ wheels, a screen-printing table, with press and wash out booth, computers in each specialist room, and access to 15 computers dedicated to photography all with the Adobe Creative Suite. In addition, the school has a number of other IT suites, and a class set of iPads which are available to book when needed.
Photography is well equipped with a number of Canon DSLR cameras and a variety of lenses, studio lighting, back drops and tripods. Students use Chrome Books to produce digital sketchbooks.
Textile Design have access to a range of Janome sewing machines, two Janome embellishing machines, a A4 sublimation printer and heat press. All classroom has access to a visualiser, broadband internet connection and WIFI, as well as interactive smart boards and projectors.
The Post 16 study space allows out students to continue working outside of their lessons, to develop their independent study skills and personal development.
