20% Daily Work – This category will be based on any repair orders, daily classwork, and assignments given throughout the course.
30% Quizzes/Tests – This category will be based on any quizzes/tests taken throughout the course, including the semester test. Students must pass the Safety test with 100% to participate in the shop.

Grade Rounding: Grades with a value of 0.5% or higher will be rounded up to the next whole number. No rounding will be done for grades 0.4% or lower.

· Writing and submitting an automotive-related paper.
Additional details, requirements, and submission instructions are available in Google Classroom.
Student Attendance
Student Absence: Students must communicate and provide written notice of an absence in order to receive employability points. Absent students are responsible for reviewing Planbook to find missed content, materials, and assignments. Planbook will be updated daily with activities and expectations for each class. Students should review the posted information before asking questions; ask for clarification only when needed. Students will have two school days per excused absence to complete and submit missed work. An absence during the class period before a scheduled test does not excuse a student from taking the test on the original test date.
For planned absences, all work due during the absence must be completed before the student leaves. Students should be prepared to submit or review completed assignments upon returning to class. If a test is schedule during a planned absence, the student must make arrangements with the instructor to complete the test before the scheduled test date.
Tardies: Tardies follow school policy. Cell phones should be in the “Parking Lot”, students in their seats, and ready to learn by the time the bell rings. Arrivals within 15 minutes are marked tardy; after 15 minutes, the student is considered absent.
Hall Passes: Students must have permission and sign out before leaving the classroom. Restroom permission is not required when using the single-use shop restroom. Students are expected to use the facility responsibly. Abuse will result in stricter rules. In emergencies, notify me or another student.
Classroom and Shop Procedures
General Rules: I expect all students to contribute to a positive and respectful learning environment. Be on time, prepared, and actively engaged in all class activities.
Automotive Shop: Safety is top priority. Unsafe behavior will result in removal from shop activities and a zero for the day. All students are expected to follow posted shop rules and Instructor directions. Please refer to “Shop Rules & Expectations” for further details.
Shop Dress Code: Students are required to wear secure, closed-toe shoes and eye protection. Jewelry and loose items are not permitted and must be secured. Safety glasses are provided and must be worn at all times in the shop. Students may supply their own pair of glasses. If a student breaks or loses a pair of shop-provided glasses, a replacement pair will be provided for a $3 fee.
Food and Drinks: Food and drinks are allowed in the classroom, within reason. There will be no food allowed within the shop, only closed drinking containers.
Technology: Students will need to come to class prepared with a charged laptop &/ charger. The shop provided laptop is for the use of automotive parts and services only.
Before the bell rings, students should silence and store their phones in their assigned “Parking Lot” pocket. Phones will remain there for the remainder of the class, unless otherwise instructed. Unauthorized use will result in escalating consequences; phone use during assessments will result in a zero and an admin referral.
Lockers: Students will be able to check-out shop lockers. Lockers can be used to store clothing, PPE, and any materials purchased for projects. Lockers are not to store shop provided tools, parts, or supplies. Each locker is provided with a dial lock, codes will be provided at check-out.
Tool Box Expectations: There are four shared tool boxes used by six classes. At the beginning and end of every class, each tool box must be clean, organized, and fully intact. Tools should not be left dirty, damaged, or missing.
Each tool box and its tools are color coordinated. Do not mix tools between boxes. Tools must be returned to their designated tool box after use.
Tool boxes will be inspected before students may return to the classroom or leave class. If a tool is missing, students are responsible for locating it before leaving class. If a missing tool cannot be found, employability points will be deducted from the group and/or student.
Specialty tools are located in the Tool Room and must be returned to their designated location immediately after use. Students are responsible for properly handling and returning all specialty tools.
A Tool Room Assistant may be assigned to help manage specialty tools, retrieve parts and supplies, and provide assistance when needed. Students should communicate with the Tool Room Assistant appropriately and follow all procedures for checking out and returning specialty tools.
Shop Clean Up: Students are responsible for cleaning work areas, tools, equipment, and benches at the end of each class. Spills, debris, and dirty laundry must be properly addressed before leaving.
Spartan Time Policy: The Auto Shop will open for Spartan Time after 2:05 PM and will be closed on PLC early dismissal days. Auto Shop participation during Spartan Time is based on academic eligibility and instructor approval. Students must meet the requirements for being excused from Spartan Time in order to participate in the shop. Students who are required to attend Spartan Time due to academic eligibility requirements may not participate, unless they have missing or incomplete work specifically for an Automotive class. In those cases, approval from the instructor is required before entering the shop.
Student Vehicles: Students may bring personal vehicles into the shop if a completed Vehicle Work Permission Form has been submitted. Student vehicle work is a learning opportunity but are not a priority over instructional activities. Due to time, space, workload limitations, not all requests can be approved. Approval will be based on first come, availability, and scope of the work, including materials, parts, and time. Students will not be parked in the CTE East Parking Lot unless work is being performed and the student has received instructor approval. Students must park in the designated Auto Shop parking area and operate vehicles responsibly at all times. Failure to follow vehicle expectations may result in privileges revoked.
