My first degree was a trade degree and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. By the age I was 21 I had complete financial independence and by the time I was 24, I already paid off my student loans.

So why don't more people choose trade schools? From my own experience, there is a "less than par" stigma associated with trade schools and community college. People would often respond with "that's alright" when I would tell them what I was doing. That all stopped when they graduated school with major loans and no job. I already had been working and established for two years in the industry.

Because of my trade degree, I was able to explore the idea of changing careers at a later date. It is how I was able to become a teacher!
