Parent Resources

Before I was a teacher of gifted children, I was the parent of a gifted child. Gifted children have their own unique challenges and abilities, and no two are alike. But I keenly remember the frustration of not knowing where to begin in terms of helping my child to succeed academically as well as socially and emotionally! More than once I found myself wishing my kid came with a user's manual!

Our kids don't come with instructions, but fortunately there are a lot of resources out there to help navigate parenting a child who is academically gifted. The following resources are provided to assist you in supporting your child's gifts and talents. Check out the first slide presentation for an overview of enrichment at South Sci-Tech. Next you will find information the Ohio Department of Education regarding gifted identification and services, as well as Lima City Schools policy for identification and services provided. At the bottom, there is a padlet with links to relevant articles, websites, and activities for parents organized by topic!
